LEGO® 30115 Snake Variants
The most obvious difference between the two molds is a singular circular indent under the head in the 1997 version and multiple circular indents along the body on the underside of the 2023 version. More subtly are differences in the tongue with the 1997 version having a wider tongue with a flatter top where the 2023 version has a rounded transition from top to side. The tail on the 1997 version is slightly narrower and the segment transitions are more gradual than the 2023 version. Overall the sculpt on the 1997 model has more definition with the exception of the tail. The injection point on the 1997 version is on the underside of the head and on the 2023 version is on the underside at mid body.

An aesthetic note, with the remold LEGO missed the opportunity to move the tongue from the top half to the bottom half, thereby making the tongue to appear to come out of the mouth and not projecting from the nose. Doesn’t something like what’s shown below make more sense?
